Cabo San Lucas camel ride: what the outing is like

A Cabo San Lucas camel ride takes you out of the marina area to the Pacific side, where the ranches sit. One ranch lies about 45 minutes' drive north of Cabo San Lucas near Cerritos and Todos Santos, and another starts the beach ride at Migriño, about 30 minutes from the center of town. Camels are not native to Baja, so every ride is a guided outing on a working route along the shore or through dry desert scrub.

Some are a beach ride with a Mexican buffet and a tequila tasting. One adds a single ATV ride in the desert, and one sells the camel ride, the ATV ride or both. Prices as of November 2026 run from 65.86 to 119 USD per person.

Which camel ride fits you

The 74 USD beach ride with buffet is the straightforward choice. It is listed at five hours, with hotel pickup, a bilingual guide, an unlimited Mexican buffet with vegetarian options and a tequila tasting. The ranch recommends a 4 pm start for sunset and a campfire. Riders must be at least 5 years old and weigh no more than 120 kg (265 lb).

The 3-hour beach ride at 95 USD is shorter on the camel and clear about it: about 25 minutes of riding, plus a camel encounter, a desert safari ride, tacos and fresh fruit waters, with round-trip transport. Start times run through the day from 9 am to 4 pm, with extra 8 am and 5 pm departures in some seasons. A 25 USD park entry per person is paid on top. The 114 USD two-hour ride follows the Pacific shore and includes a buffet and pickup from hotels in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo or from your cruise ship.

If one animal is not enough, the camel and ATV combo at 99 USD adds a single ATV ride in the desert.

Todos Santos with a camel ranch

The 119 USD day takes six hours with a bilingual guide, round-trip transport, a Mexican buffet lunch and a tequila tasting. A camel ride is not listed as included, so if riding matters to you, one of the beach rides is the safer pick. Our Todos Santos guide covers the town itself.

Rules, fees and weather

The camel ride is not recommended with back or neck problems or during pregnancy. No phones or cameras are allowed on the ride, and photos are sold extra. Wear long pants, closed shoes, a hat and sun protection, plus a sweater on winter mornings. Tours can be cancelled for weather or operational reasons, and the 3-hour beach ride then offers a full refund or a new date. For the desert side of the area, see our ATV and desert tours.

Camel rides in Cabo: practical questions

How long is the camel ride itself?

On the 3-hour beach ride you spend about 25 minutes on the camel. The rest of the outing is the camel encounter, a desert safari ride, food and drinks. The buffet ride is listed at five hours with pickup, so most of that time is not spent riding.

What is the minimum age and weight limit?

Riders must be at least 5 years old. The limit is 120 kg (265 lb) on the buffet ride and 125 kg (270 lb) on the 3-hour beach ride. The ATV combo starts at age 8, and drivers must be 18 or older with a license.

How much does it cost?

Prices run from 65.86 to 119 USD per person as of November 2026. The 74 USD buffet ride and 95 USD beach ride are the simple options, the 99 USD combo adds an ATV, and the 119 USD Todos Santos day is a full six hours. A 25 USD entry is paid on top on most options.

Is hotel pickup included?

On most of them, yes. The 74 USD ride includes hotel pickup, the 95 USD and 114 USD beach rides and the 119 USD Todos Santos day include round-trip transport, and the 65.86 USD option collects guests from eligible Los Cabos hotels or the cruise pier.
